Is this the most unique souvenir in Japan? 💮📔 For Is this the most unique souvenir in Japan? 💮📔

Forget the usual keychains or magnets—one of the most memorable souvenirs you can collect in Japan are eki stamps. They’re a fun (and free!) way to document your travels, with each design reflecting the history, culture, or characters of the location.

✨ Where can I find stamps in Japan?
You’ll spot them at train stations, temples, castles, popular tourist spots, and even specialty character stores.

✨ Where to get a stamp book?
Bring your own notebook, or pick one up in Japan from stores like Itoya, Loft, or Tokyu Hands.

📌Tips for Collecting Stamps in Japan

① Always carry your notebook so you don’t miss one.

② Keep an eye out for limited edition stamps tied to seasonal events or anniversaries.

③ Most station stamps are near ticket gates—if you can’t find one, ask staff: eki stamp wa doko desu ka? or stampu arimasu ka?

④ Download the Stamp Quest app to help find locations (note: it doesn’t cover every stamp in Japan).

⑤ Treat it like a travel journal—it becomes a personalised keepsake of your journey.

Tucked away in northern Catalonia, this charming city feels like a little jewellery box of history. Think cobbled medieval lanes, centuries-old walls you can walk along, and grand Gothic churches tucked between quiet squares. Colourful houses line a river that runs through the centre, their reflections shimmering in the water and separating the historic old town from the livelier modern side of the city.

If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones, you might also recognise a few corners of this place — several scenes were filmed here for King’s Landing and Braavos.

📍 Places to visit

💡 Tip for visiting Girona:

If you’re planning a day trip from Barcelona, try to arrive around 8am or earlier. The streets are much quieter before the group tours arrive, and you’ll get to experience the city at its most peaceful.

🚆 How to get there

Take a Renfe or AVE train from Barcelona — the journey takes about 40 minutes.

While it’s possible as a day trip, staying one night in Girona is worth it if you want to slow down and really soak up the atmosphere.

Can you guess where this city is? Everyone talks Can you guess where this city is?

Everyone talks about visiting Amsterdam when they go to the Netherlands… but what about this city?

I spent a week exploring the country and made it a goal to visit a different city each day. Some were bigger, some quieter — but one felt like stepping straight into a Dutch painting.

Right in the heart of it all was Delft. A canal-laced city of leaning church towers, flower-lined bridges and the iconic blue-and-white pottery you instantly recognise. Delft is the birthplace of Johannes Vermeer, the artist behind Girl with a Pearl Earring, and a place where art, history and everyday Dutch life quietly intertwine.

It also holds royal significance. William of Orange is buried inside Nieuwe Kerk, beginning a tradition that continues for the Dutch royal family today. Just across town, the slightly leaning Oude Kerk stands taller than the Leaning Tower of Pisa and watches over the canals below.

If you’re planning a visit, here’s what I’d recommend:

🏛️ Royal Delft – The last remaining Delftware factory from the 17th century. You can watch artists hand-paint the famous Delfts Blauw ceramics and learn how this blue-and-white style became a symbol of the Netherlands.

🎨 Vermeer Centrum Delft – A deep dive into Vermeer’s life, the Dutch Golden Age and the Delft School of painting. Even if you’re not an art expert, it gives you a whole new appreciation for the city’s atmosphere.

🙇🏻‍♀️ Market Square – One of the largest and most impressive town squares in the country. Surrounded by historic buildings, cafés and the two iconic churches, it’s the perfect place to slow down with a coffee and simply take it all in.

🛶 A canal cruise – Cruising through the narrow canals gives you a completely different perspective of the brick facades, arching bridges and quiet courtyards tucked away from the main streets.

🚶🏻‍♀️ A slow wander through the Old Town – No strict itinerary needed. Peek into antique stores and let yourself get slightly lost among the canals.

🚆 How to get here? Just about an hour by train from Amsterdam.
