Sometimes the things we do without a plan end up s Sometimes the things we do without a plan end up shaping our lives the most. 👉🏻

A small snippet from this week’s Substack essay, where I’m reflecting on my early twenties.

When I moved to Korea in 2022, I started taking photos and creating content simply as a way to document my time abroad. I had no idea where it would lead, or that something I started as a hobby could eventually open doors to opportunities I didn’t even realise were possible.

Looking back, so much of what has shaped my life came from simply trying something new without knowing exactly where it would take me.

I’ve learned that you don’t always need a solid plan. Sometimes you just need to be curious enough to start.

🙇🏻‍♀️ Small habits I’ve quietly built in my twenti 🙇🏻‍♀️ Small habits I’ve quietly built in my twenties that have actually made a difference.

I’ve realised that the habits that actually stick are rarely the dramatic ones. They’re usually the tiny, slightly boring, occasionally weird things you start doing without really thinking about them… and then realise they’ve made your life noticeably better.

I’ve been collecting a few of mine lately, from little evening rituals to rules I’ve made for myself around my phone, reading and spending.💸 📚

It's also a great way to get started in journalling.

Each day try the 1-1-1 method so you can reflect on your day.

Simple bit effective. Even a small goal of reading each day can make a difference over the long term.

If you want to get into reading or read more here are some helpful resources:

@libbyapp_anz for borrowing free books and audiobooks from your local library.

@the.storygraph for tracking your books and reading stats.

This year I've set a goal to read 60 books and I'm ahead of my goal so far. 📚

I usually listen to at least one podcast a day so I can stay up to date with news or learn something. I've also been enjoying listening to mandarin podcasts to help with listening practice.

Here are a few podcast recommendations. I listen to all of them on @spotify.

If you want to reduce impulse purchases I highly recommend waiting at least 7 days or longer.

It alsp helps making a running wishlist of things you 'want' to buy. I've made a downloadable notion shopping wishlist (linked in my bio) 💸

Simple way to reset for the next day.

If you're struggling to stay off your phone or certain apps I'd recommend checking out @opalapp

I spent 48 hours in Lucerne, and these are a few of the places and experiences I loved most.

From wandering the Old Town to sitting by the water and taking in the mountain views from Lake Lucerne, it’s the kind of city you can explore at your own pace without trying to tick off every attraction.

Here’s what made my list, and what I’d prioritise if I were visiting again.

Social media often makes us feel like we need the latest clothes, gadgets, or trends to improve ourselves.

But most of the time, we already own something that works. Learning to appreciate what I have has helped me reduce unnecessary spending.

A few years ago, I started being more intentional about what I purchased. Instead of buying things because they were trending, on sale, or gave me a temporary dopamine hit, I started asking: “Do I actually need this?” It’s helped me save money and reduce impulse purchases.

🔗 I’ve shared my full low-buy guidelines on my Substack.

One of the easiest ways to improve your finances is simply knowing where your money goes.💸

Tracking my expenses helped me identify spending patterns and understand what I actually value.

💻 I personally use a combination of Google Sheets and @notionhq to track my expenses, investments, and income.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that time in the market matters more than trying to perfectly time the market. 📈

Instead of waiting for the “right” moment, I use dollar-cost averaging, investing a consistent amount regularly, regardless of whether prices are up or down.

For example, if you invested $10,000 upfront and continued investing $1,000 every month for 35 years with an average annual return of 7%, your total contributions would be $430,000. Through the power of compound growth, your portfolio could potentially grow to around $2 million over time. 💸

This example is for educational purposes only and is not a prediction of future returns. Investment returns are not guaranteed, and actual results will vary depending on market performance, fees, taxes, and other factors. Consider seek
Which place would you travel to first? 🌍 Some pla Which place would you travel to first? 🌍

Some places are worth visiting for the destination. Others are worth travelling halfway around the world for one unforgettable view or experience.

One of my favourite parts of travelling has been discovering places I never would have found if I only stuck to the typical tourist itinerary. While I still love visiting iconic destinations, I've found some of my favourite memories have come from the quieter cities, hidden viewpoints and unexpected places.

Looking back on my twenties, I'm so grateful for the experiences I've had across Europe, Asia and Australia. Every trip has reminded me just how big the world is and how much there is still left to explore.

This car-free village is known for its cliffside views and wooden chalets in Switzerland. Since cars aren’t allowed, you can reach Gimmelwald by cable car from Stechelberg or Mürren.

You can either do this as a day trip or stay overnight.

📍Gimmelwald in #Switzerland

This is one place I wish I spent longer at during my time in Spain.

If you’re visiting on a day trip make sure to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds rolling in around 8:30 to 9:30 am.

📍Girona in Spain

You can visit this place in South Korea as a day trip from Gyeongju or if you want to explore the city for longer, then stay overnight or for a couple of days.

A walkable sculpture in Hwanho Park in Korea. You can get great city views from this spot, especially at sunset or sunrise.

Make sure to check opening hours before you visit.

📍스페이스워크 in Pohang

Okay, I visited this place in Europe for more than just the mountains but also the hiking and adventure experiences.

This was one of my favourite places I stayed during my one-week trip in Switzerland. I used it as a base for day trips in the Jungfrau region.

📍Grindelwald in Switzerland

Would you climb 376 steps for this view?

This was worth the steps for this view in Delft in the Netherlands. Seeing the city from above at Nieuwe Kerk was one of my highlights visiting the city. It’s the second tallest chur

Instead of constantly turning to social media for a quick dopamine hit, try allowing yourself to be bored. While it might feel uncomfortable at first, boredom activates your brain's default mode network, which becomes more active when you're not focused on the outside world. This is the part of the brain linked to creativity, helping you connect unrelated ideas and come up with fresh solutions.

This article hit surprisingly close to home. It explores the bittersweet feeling of outgrowing an old version of yourself and accepting that some chapters of life can never be revisited. Whether it's graduating, leaving a job, moving cities, ending relationships, or simply realising you're no longer the same person you were a few years ago, growth often comes with grief.

Have you considered the cost of being replaceable?

Explores how you can stay interested in yourself simply by not just adding more but changing how you can relate to what is around you.

We often think of love as romance, but its greatest power is found in how we show up for others. Throughout life, we all rely on the care and support of those around us, whether that's family, friends, partners, or our wider community.

Real connection comes from being fully present, listening with intention, and giving without expecting anything in return.

A mix of things I’ve been consuming, learning, and celebrating this month. 💸

Why it’s worth investing?

Building wealth often looks boring at first. It’s less about making huge moves and more about consistently investing over time.

When I receive my monthly paycheck, I automatically transfer a set amount of my income into @pearlerhq to invest in ETFs and stocks.

This month, instead of letting my dividends sit in my bank account, I reinvested them into the ETFs I’m currently building.

Small amounts invested consistently can compound over time.

One reason I like using @pearlerhq is that it makes investing consistently easier.

You can set up automatic investments into selected ETFs or stocks, which helps remove the temptation to time the market or overthink every decision.

After being in a bit of a reading slump, I’ve been making my way back into the habit.

📚 My favourite read this month: Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall

📌 Why it’s worth trying: The easiest way to rebuild a reading habit is to make reading enjoyable again.

📖 Books currently on my TBR

I’ve already read Emily Wilson’s translation of The Odyssey, but I wanted to explore different perspectives beyond the traditional heroes.

Retellings are powerful because they allow overlooked characters and perspectives to be explored. Currently on my list:

🏛️Circe by Madeline Miller - A reimagining of Circe’s myth, exploring the life, power, and struggles of the infamous witch behind the legend.

🏛️Ithaca by Claire North - Tells the story of Odysseus’ absence from Penelope’s perspective as she navigates protecting Ithaca.

🏛️ A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes - A collection of stories from the women of The Iliad and The Odyssey, giving voice to characters often overlooked in traditional retellings.

🏛️ The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood - Penelope, the Queen of Ithaca, shares her perspective on her life and marriage in the afterlife.
