There’s been a lot of discourse around overtourism in Japan — especially areas like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. So, I thought I’d share some honest thoughts on a few spots I’ve visited myself. While these cities are often at the top of the list for first-time visitors, there’s so much more to discover beyond the well-trodden Golden Route.

That said, it’s completely understandable if you want to see these places for yourself - here’s my take on whether they lived up to the hype.

At the start of this year, I made a conscious decision to be more mindful with how I spend my time. Six months in, I’ve been building small habits to help reduce screen time and focus on living more intentionally in my twenties.
